Malaria outbreak in MP district

Balaghat, MP, Dec 7 (UNI) At least ten people were claimed by malaria over the past five days in this district's Margdarra, Aamgaon, Oarna and Roshna villages.

Official sources confirmed the outbreak but did not provide a specific toll.

Rohit (3) and Suneeta Gond (14) died at Margdarra last night.

Other victims included Sumran Bai (20), Buranbai (47) and Raisingh Gond (50).

''Medical teams have been sent to the affected areas,'' said Collector Gulshan Bamra.

The district hospital's Pathologist Verma said that Plasmodium Falciparum could have caused the deaths. Medical teams examined 64 people and found 45 with malaria symptoms.
