BITS Pilani opens new campus in Dubai

Dubai, Dec 7: BITS Pilani has opened a new campus at Al Ruwaiyyah in Dubai. Addressing a large crowd of educationists, students and parents, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Talmiz Ahmed called it another Indian success story.

''The 5,000-year-old relations between the Gulf and India started with merchandise and now have reached the intellectual level, benefiting both,'' the Gulf Today quoted him as saying.

He said both the countries have successfully taken up the challenge of cementing and refreshing the relations through IT from the 90s.

''Today, Indian professionals are global citizen. But they should not forget their fundamental roots wherever they are,'' he quipped.

The function was attended by stalwarts of education in the UAE and India.

Chancellor of BITS Pilani, Dr KK Birla, announced that the Dubai campus will soon start a PhD course in engineering and the student strength as well as the college premises will be doubled within two years.
