Security tightened in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 6 (UNI) Tight security measures were taken across Kerala, especially around Sabarimala Ayyappa temple and Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple today, in view of the 15th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.

According to police, no untoward incident was reported so far.

Police were keeping a strict vigil on railway stations, airports and bus terminals.

A report from Sabarimala said special commandos, armed police personnel and bomb squad were posted to screen every pilgrim.

Police personnel from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka also joined the special security team.

Armed guards were posted to protect essential installations like water storage tanks, pumping stations, electrical sub-stations electrical transformers. Use of mobile phones was probihibited at Sannidhanam.

Door-frame metal detectors were installed at Pampa and Sannidhanam.

Security was tightened in Guruvayur and other major temples in the state for two days.
