Police officers beat up constable

Shillong, Dec 6 (UNI) Meghalaya police has initiated a departmental inquiry into the alleged assualt of newly recruited constable by his officer-in-charge, even as the constable's relatives have filed an FIR against the police officer,police said today.

Constable Trada Pale (19) suffered severe injuries, when officer-in-charge S.N.Singh, allegedly assaulted him for dereliction of duty yesterday at the 1st MLP Battalion camp at Mawiong.

However, angry relatives of Pale claimed that that the constable was on duty when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, the police constable has been shfted to city civil hospital for medical treatment.
