Mann arrested for anti-Bhagat Singh statement

Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 6 (UNI) Punjab police today arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann from his residence here for his reported anti-Bhagat Singh statement.

Mann was arrested from his residence at Quila Harnam Singh Pura in the district and taken to Patiala. A case under section 133 A of the IPC was registered against him for the alleged statement made by him against martyr Bhagat Singh.

Before his arrest, a large number of police offficals were deployed in front of Mann's office to prevent any untoward incident.

When the police officals was about to arrest Mann, his supporters protested over the ''manner of the arrest'' and raised slogans against the Punjab government.

Sources said that Mann was about to leave his residence for medical check up at PGIMER, Chandigarh when the police arrested him.
