EC notice to Modi for Sohrabuddin comments

New Delhi, Dec 6: The Election Commission (EC) today slapped a showcause notice on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his reported statement during an election rally, justifying the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter.

The Commission directed Mr Modi to reply to the notice by Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the Commission held an emergency meeting to discuss the issue, EC sources said.
