Centre initiates sensitisation programme on river valley

Agartala, Dec 6 (UNI) The Centre has taken initiative to sensitise the common people regarding wet land management and river valley development in the Northeast region.

According to a official report, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched a special programme for documentation of the wet land issues and river valley development projects implemented in NE states.

The report said the ministry had received 52 proposals for production of documentaries on river valley development in last five years through Doordarshan Kendras in the region and 15 of them were approved.

Meanwhile, several other initiatives have been taken by the ministry to broadcast such other documentaries to motivate the people on the issue and make them understand the emerging issues of environmental degradation.
