Arguments end in Pramod Mahajan murder case

Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) The arguments in the murder trial of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan concluded in a special court here today.

Additional Sessions Judge S P Davare started dictation of the judgement at the fag end of the day's proceedings at around 1650 hrs. The process was expected to be completed before the start of Christmas vacation.

After the conclusion of the arguments, defence advocate H H Ponda appealed to the court that his client Pravin Mahajan should be acquitted from all charges as he did not commit the murder of his elder brother Pramod Mahajan.

Earlier, Mr Ponda told the court that the motive behind the murder was not mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR). Police did not record what his client wanted to give. They had written the statement on their own, and therefore built-up the case to show that his client was the accused.

On April 22 last year, Pravin had shot at Pramod at the latter's residece in Worli here. Pramod succumbed to injuries in the P D Hinduja Hospital on May 3 the same year.
