Myanmar to release 49 Bangladeshis
Dhaka, Dec 5 (UNI) Myanmar has agreed to release unconditionally all 49 Bangladeshi nationals who are serving imprisonment terms in different jails in Myanmar.
Most of the detained Bangladeshi citizens are fishermen and woodcutters. They are now waiting for repatriation.
Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury has expressed his satisfaction over the unconditional release of the Bangladeshi nationals.
''I see this as a good and friendly gesture on the part of Myanmar. It shows that patient diplomacy bears fruit,'' he added.
