Colour code for permitless autos

Chennai, Dec 5 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today ordered that the autos plying without permit should sport sky blue colour with the wording 'Not for Hire' before December 31.

An official statement here today said many complaints were received stating that autorickshaws were being operated without permit and that too painted yellow.

The people, who travel in these vehicles could not get any compensation or insurance claim in the event of an accident, since these vehicles were not covered under permit rules.

"While replacing the old autorickshaws by a new one at the time of surrender of permit, the permit holder has to produce the old one painted in sky blue colour with the 'Not for Hire' wording".

The newly registered private autos should also be painted in sky blue colour, the release added.
