Islamabad, Dec 5: The Islamabad Police is still clueless about a burglary that took place at the residence of Indian High Commissioner (IHC) Satyabrata Pal here on November 12, which cost him a laptop and a brief case.

The burglary was committed between 8.30 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. when Pal was in Karachi and his wife out for a dinner. The official residence of the Indian High Commissioner is located in the tightly guarded F-6 sector and has been in use of the Indian High Commission since 1968.

Police sources have said that the burglars broke into the highly fortified house hoodwinking the Pakistani and Indian security personnel. They didn"t touch any item and made away with a laptop and a brief case.

They said the incident was reported to the police the next day but so far nothing had come out of investigation. National Crisis Management Cell Director General Javed Iqbal Cheema said that the incident was reported to Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, soon after its occurrence.

"A dedicated police team is investigating, but I am not aware of the latest development," he said. Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Sadiq said that he was not aware of investigations.

The Daily Times quoted diplomatic sources as saying that contrary to the past practice both Indian and Pakistani Governments were keeping mum about the incident.

"The incident could have brought strongest protest form the Indians if committed a few years ago," they said.
