Lucknow, Dec 4 (UNI) '' There is a need for a full time Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh''- was the comment made by the Opposition in the state Assembly following the absence of Chief Minister Mayawati during the discussion on the serial blasts of November 23.

The Opposition was on its toes, claiming that the government was not taking the issue seriously. Though Ms Mayawati was in the House during the question hour, her absence during the zero hour irked the Opposition.

However, Leader of the Opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav was also not present in the House for the entire day.

BJP member Hukum Singh making a critical remark said ''the Chief Minister is going everywhere in the country but has no time for the Assembly.'' ''The state seriously requires a full-time CM as she is presently busy touring other states,'' the BJP member said adding that the CM was now more concerned about her party's future in other states than in UP.

The comment of the member was supported by other members saying the CM should have been present in the House during such a crucial discussion.

Some other BJP members said absence of leader of the House and leader of the Opposition shows their non-serious attitude towards terrorism.

During the discussion BJP member Lalji Tandon also cracked a joke that his speech was being heard by the treasury bench like 'Satyanarain Ka Katha' as no one is there in the government to reply on the issue.
