Tiger skins seized, 16 wildlife smugglers held
Allahabad, Dec 4 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police tonight arrested 16 wildlife smugglers possessing a large number of tiger skins and bones in Kareli area of the city.
The consignment was estimated at several lakhs of rupees in the international market.
Acting on a tip-off, police personnel nabbed 16 people and seized a large number of tiger skins, bones and two cellphones, STP SSP Amitabh Yash said.
Of the 16 held, four hailed from Allahabad, while 12 people, including ten women, were native of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Mr Yash added.
Meanwhile, the accused were being interrogated.
