Pune, Dec 4 (UNI) Dismissed Assistant Police Inspector Dilip Kamat, an accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, has filed a contempt petition against former Special Judge Chitra Kiran Bhedi for allegedly favouring Telgi's wife Sahida and brother Azim and granting them bail.

Kamat, who is lodged at the Yerawada Jail since last four years, filed the petition here yesterday when he was produced before Special Judge R Y Deshmukh. The judge has directed the CBI to file a written statement on the contempt petition on December 19. According to Kamat, Ms Bhedi violated the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court orders besides committing contempt by granting bail to Sahida on medical and humanitarian grounds.

The trial court had rejected Sahida's bail plea on November 16, 2005. The Bombay High Court also turned down her bail application on June 13, 2006 while the Supreme Court had dismissed her special leave petition on March 2, 2007.

Kamat alleged that Ms Bhedi dropped charges against Azim under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) while framing charges on him on June 29, 2007.

Ms Bhedi is presently posted at the City Civil and Sessions Court in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Defence lawyer Milind Pawar representing Shahida and Azim Telgi, has termed the allegations as baseless.
