G T Deve Gowda to join BJP on Dec 13

Bangalore, Dec 4 (UNI) The Janata Dal(S) in Karnataka has suferred a severe jolt as Mr G T Deve Gowda, former minister and one of the prominent party leaders in its bastion in Old-Mysore region, has decided to desert the party and join BJP here today.

Speaking to reporters emerging from a 90-minute long meeting with former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Mr Deve Gowda said that, he along with his followers would join the saffron party as they were disgusted with the attitude of the Gowda family, which led to fall of the first BJP government in the state.

The defiant leader once the confidant of the former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, said the supporters would join the BJP at a grand function to be held in Mysore on December 13. Earlier, former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy met Mr G T Deve Gowda and made an futile effort to persuade the latter from leaving the party.
