Ballia bypoll: No nomination on day one

Ballia, Dec 4 (UNI) Not a single nomination was filed on the first day today for the Ballia Lok Sabha bypoll, to be held on December 29.

The seat fell vacant after the death of former prime minister Chandrashekhar.

The last day to file the nomination is December 11.

Nomination papers would be scrutinised on December 12, while counting of votes would take place on January 2.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Amitabh Thakur said the model code of conduct was being strictly enforced in the area.
