Weather Channel to be launched by 2009
New Delhi, Dec 3: The Government plans to launch a six-hour weather channel by next year, which would be upgraded to 12 hours by 2009 and 24 hours by 2010, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Minister of Earth Sciences Kapil Sibal said the weather offices in the country were being networked for dissemination of real time meteorological observations and weather forecast between them and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Headquarters.
This network would also be used by the proposed weather channel.
