Three militants arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 3 (UNI) Three militants, including an activist of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were arrested by troops in north Kashmir yesterday, a defence ministry spokesman said today.

He said troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), alongwith 2 PARA, launched a search operation at Tujar in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. During the operation, the troops apprehended a JeM militant, Nisar Ahmed Mir.

The spokesman said Mir was a close associate of Area Commander Abu Haider and was involved in a number of militancy-related incidents, including hurling grenades on security forces. Two hand grenades were also recovered from his possession.

In another operation, 22 RR arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGW) at Malmayanpur in Baramulla district, the spokesman added.

They were identified as Liyakat Ramzan Mir and Mohammad Ashraf Khan.
