Sitar Matero Balekhan laid to rest

Hubli, Dec 3 (UNI) The body of renowned Sitar master Balekhan, who died in a private hospital in Belgaum yesterday, was laid to rest in Dharwad today.

Rajyotsava Awardee Balekhan (65), who popularised Sitar in South India, had enthralled auidence during his performance in London, Kenya, Uganda, Tanjenia, Manchester, Paris.

He was survived by his wife, two son and three daughters.

Earlier Dharwad District Deputy Commissioner M S Sridhar placed wraths on the body on behalf of the State Government.

Renowned Hindustani vocalist Gangubai Hangal, Kannada writer Channaveer Kanavi and many of his students among others attended the burial.
