One killed, fierce encounter on in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 3 (UNI) A fierce encounter was on between militants and security forces in central Kashmir while a bullet riddled body was recovered at Sopore.

Official sources said the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a joint operation in village Ararth in the central Kashmir district of Badgam early this morning.

However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire. Reinforcement was rushed to the area from nearby camps and all exit points were sealed to foil any attempt by the militants to escape.

Security forces also returned the fire and a fierce encounter was going on when the report last came in, they said.

A bullet riddled body of Firdous Ahmad Reshi was recovered at village Dooru, Sopore, in Baramulla district.
