Hyderabad, Dec 3 (UNI) About 120 medicos and junior doctors, who are on a dharna demanding the state government to suspend Asif Nagar MLA Afsar Khan for allegedly attacking the junior doctors at Niloufer hospital were arrested by the police today.

After arresting the medicos, the police shifted them to Amberpet police grounds.

The medicos of Gandhi and Osmania Medical Colleges along with junior doctors resorted to dharna at the Exhibition grounds after the talks between the government and the junior doctors failed to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, senior doctors of Niloufer Children hospital boycotted work in support of the agitation launched last night. They also served strike notices and threatened to intensify the stir if the government failed to concede the demands by tomorrow.

Extending support to the agitation, the Andhra Pradesh Doctors Association called upon the government doctors in the state to stay away from attending medical services tomorrow.

The state government had made alternative arrangements in Niloufer hospital by deploying doctors from private hospitals to provide treatment to children, following the boycott by regular doctors.

Health Minister G Aruna, along with Backward Classes Minister Mukhesh and Hyderabad District Collector Chandravadan, who held three rounds of talks with the doctors to resolve the issue said the government was ready to probe the case by CB-CID and provide a police outpost at the Niloufer hospital.

After the doctors staged a dharna in front of the police station last night demanding that an attempt to murder case be registered against Afsar Khan, the Nampalli police arrested the MLA and later released him.
