HC seeks reply from JSEB on poor power scene

Ranchi, Dec 3 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government to file an affidavit by December 10 in connection with the present status of electricity supply in the capital city.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice D K Sinha heard a writ petition filed by Madhu Sudan Mittal, an advocate of the Jharkhand High Court.

Mr Mittal, appearing in person, pleaded before the court that the condition of power supply in the capital city was very poor.

The students had to prepare for their exams in the candlelight because of poor power supply.

The petitioner argued that the Jharkhand State Electricity Board should provide uninterrupted power supply in the state capital.

Advocate General S B Gadodia informed the court that the board was supplying 100 MW to the state capital and the government requested the Centre to supply 617 MW to the state.
