Couple gets lifer for abduction

Kolhapur, Dec 3 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a couple to life imprisonment for abducting a nine-year-old boy for a ransom of Rs 25 lakh in 2001.

District second additional sessions judge S P Kulkarani found Yogesh Balasaheb Ingale (30) and his wife Shilpa (28) guilty of the crime and awarded the sentence under section 364 of Indian Penal Code.

According to prosecution, the couple had abducted Nilesh Anil Salokhe on September 3, 2001 from his school in Rajendranagar suburb here. They had demanded Rs 25 lakh from the boy's parents for his boy's release. However, the police were successful in arresting the couple and releasing Nilesh.

A total of 30 people were examined as witnesses in this case.
