Shimla, Dec 3 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today blamed the non-Congress Governments for disrupting the development process in the state by several years.

Addressing election meetings at Rajgarh, Nahan and Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district of the state, he said whenever a non Congress Government has been voted to power, the developmental activities have come to a standstill.

Mr Singh said that of the three times that the non-Congress parties formed governments in the state, they failed to complete their tenure two times, while all developmental activities came to a standstill during the third tenure.

''Now that the people of the state have realised that non-Congress Governments were not in their interests, they were unlikely to vote for it in these elections'', he said.

Reiterating the party's resolve for uniform and balanced development of the entire state, Congress was against dividing people on caste, regional and religion lines to garner a few votes.

He said following phenomenal developmental in the state during the last four and a half years, the state had emerged as a model of development for the rest of the country.

Sirmaur was the first district among 11 others chosen for implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in the state, besides implementing the Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana, he added.
