The illegal leasing of public gram sabhas lands, including cattle grazing grounds and fields, was done under the pressure of a state minister of the former SP regime, sources said today.
After a probe, set up into the matter by district magistrate Muktesh Mohan Mishra, the government officials have moved a proposal to cancel the entire deal.
Chief revenue officer Viyodhan Yadav, who had conducted the probe, has now asked the appointment secretary to set up an official inquiry against the then sub-divisional magistrate Ram Manohar Verma and Tehsildar Ram Chandra Saroj.
Besides, one year salary increment of four guilty lekhpals -- Triloki Nath, Parshuram, Prabhakar and Amarnath -- have been stopped.
