6.9 crore voters in Maharashtra: Chakravarty
Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) Maharashtra has 6.9 crore voters and of them, nearly three crore people have so far been given photo-identity cards, state chief electoral officer Devashish Chakravarty said today.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Chakravarty said, ''Maharashtra has 6,90,66,242 voters and so far, nearly three crore people have been given photo-identity cards.'' When asked whether all the voters would be given the identity cards before the next assembly elections, he replied in the negative, saying the distribution of photo-identiity cards would not be completed before elections.
He said the summary revision of electoral rolls of 108 constituencies with photographs wwould be done tomorrow, while the rolls of the remaining 180 constituencies wwould be published in June.
