Two gangsters killed in police encounter

Gopalganj, Dec 2: Two gangsters were killed in a police encounter near town police station area in the district of Bihar yesterday, police said here today.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted raids at a hideout in the area, where gangsters Raka Tiwary and Antu Mishra had taken shelter.

Police said one of the criminals started firing on the police and in retaliation the police also fired a few rounds thus killing the duo on the spot.

The police had also recovered one AK-47, a country made rifle, one carbine and more than hundred live cartridges from them.

Several criminal cases related to murder, loot and kidnap in Siwan, East Champaran and Gopalganj districts of teh state had been lodged against the criminals, police added.
