Infiltration bid foiled, two soldies among three killed in JK

Srinagar, Dec 2 (UNI) Two soldiers were killed while pushing back infiltrators even as security forces recovered a slaughtered body of a 22-year-old youth and apprehended three militants in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, official sources said today.

Havaldar Nirman Singh and Lance Naik Narinder Chouhan of 18 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLI) were seriously wounded in gunfight with militants near Dadal post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district late last night, they added.

The soldiers were shifted to a hospital where they succumbed to injuries, the sources said.

However, the troops succeeded in pushing back the intruders to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), they added.

Police today recovered the slaughtered body of a 22-year-old student of Dar-ul-Aloom, Shahzad Ahmed Pala, from Dangerpora in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Police have registered a case in this regard and launched a manhunt to nab the murderers.

Police also claimed to have arrested two militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in the border district of Kupwara.

Giving details, they said police conducted a search operation at Drugmullah village in Kupwara district following a tip-off.

During the operation, two LeT militants -- Waqar Ahmad Shah and Feroz Ahmad War -- were arrested. One wireless set, one transistor with a battery, mobile phone with two SIM cards, 25 rounds of AK 47 and an IED were seized from their possession.

Security forces apprehended a militant from Banola Nullah in Poonch district and seized 700 gm of gun powder, ten detonators, 10 gelatin sticks and five meters cortex wire from his possession.
