Four arrested for hurling bomb at residence
Puducherry, Dec 2(UNI) Police arrested four persons in connection with the hurling of a country-made bomb into the residence of one Ganesh of Vanarapet, in which a 12-year-old boy was killed and three others injured, Senior Superintendent of Police Chayya Sharma said today.
Talking to newspersons here, Ms Sharma said the bomb was hurled at the house of Ganesh by one Issac and others, in which one Ezhumai, was the boss and the crime was a sequel to some family problems. While Issac, Tamilselvan, Ravichandran and Sivalinganathan were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, police were on the lookout for Ezhumalai and two others, she added.
She said police had taken samples from both the bomb blast sites and a similarity was noticed. The bombs contained glass pieces, she said adding that the police had intensified their search operation to trace more bombs, if any, at Vanarapet.
The police official said in future the beat officers would be questioned if any such incident occurred as they were appointed to inform the movement of anti-social elements.
The she said Chief Minister N Rangasami had convened a meeting of high level officers in which the police urged him to implement the 'Goondas Act' in the Union Territory.
