Environmental protection must with industrialisation: Chouhan

Bhopal, Dec 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today paid tributes to the victims of 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy -- which claimed several thousands of lives and maimed lakhs of people -- on the occasion of its 23rd anniversary.

Mr Chouhan stressed that protecting environment along with rapid industrialisation was important. It was imperative to ensure that basic human values was not hurt due to industrialisation, an official release said here today.

He pointed out that gas tragedy victims were still facing health-related problems. The state government had made arrangements for their medical care including industrial safety, environmental protection and economic rehabilitation of the gas-hit people.

Mr Chouhan emphasised on protecting human life and providing people jobs while making efforts to increase production. This task could be accomplished through joint role of the government and the people, the release added.
