Eminent educationist Joshi passed away

Chandigarh, Dec 2 (UNI) Eminent educationist and renowned linguist Dr S S Joshi, who met with an accident on November 28, succumbed to his injuries here today at Fortis Hospital.

Dr Joshi held various important positions in Punjabi University Patiala. He was head of department of Anthropological linguistics and department of Lexicography. He also served as Dean Language Faculty, Director Planning, Director Audio Visual Research Centre and Member of Syndics.

Dr Joshi is survived by his wife and two sons. He was cremated late in the evening at Patiala. People from all walks of the society attended the cremation.

Punjab Education Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur has expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of Dr Joshi. In a condolence message she said that in the death of Dr Joshi Punjab had lost a brilliant scholar, an able teacher and a man with distinguished qualities. UNI
