New Delhi, Dec 2: Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Secretary D S Mathur will meet the mobile operators tomorrow to resolve the vexed issue of spectrum allocation.

The meeting comes even as an official committee, which is reviewing the Telecom Engineering Center's (TEC) recommendations on spectrum allocation norms, is yet to submit its final report.

TEC has recommended a hike of subscribers for additional allocation of spectrum, which is virtually double of that recommended by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Its calculations have come under strong criticism by GSM operators who said it is not based on scientific parameters.

Mr Mathur has also met the mobile operator individually but no consensus has emerged as GSM players stood firm on their stand.

Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), a GSM lobby, has challenged DoT's new telecom norms in telecom tribunal TDSAT.
