Unitex opens garment factory in TN

Chennai, Dec 1: Unitex International Pvt Ltd, an Indo-Japanese joint venture, opened its state-of art garment manufacturing factory at Chevapet in Tiruvallur District of Tamil Nadu on November 29.

Mr Kazuo Minagawa, Consul General of Japan, was the chief guest, and Mr Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, FICCI, Tamil State Council, delivered the inaugural address. Company Managing Director P K Radhakrishnan welcomed the gathering.

The ceremony was attended by large section of Japanese and Indian dignitaries, representatives of buying houses and textile and machinery suppliers.

The company would provide direct and indirect employment to around 1,200 persons, it claimed in a release here.
