India hails Israel-Palestine peace talks

United Nations, Dec 1: India has welcome the latest peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders at Annapolis, a town near Washington.

Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs E Ahamed led an Indian delegation to the world body, where he addressed on the subject 'The Situation in the Middle East and the Question of Palestine.' Israel-Lebanon and Israel-Syria talks, besides Israel-Palestine, he will also to be focussed in order to attain a comprensive and durable peace in the region,'' the Indian Minister told the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly session yesterday.

Mr Ahamed also said force should not be used by any side resolving conflicts.

''It is for this reason that India has consistently urged all the concerned to eschew violence and exercise restraint at each of the all-too-frequent instances when violence has broken out exacerbating sufferings and misery in the region,'' the MoS stated.
