Karnataka assembly dissolved

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) The Karnataka Assembly which had been kept under suspended animation, was dissolved tonight, paving the way for holding of fresh elections.

President Pratibha Patil signed a proclamation dissolving the State Assembly, official sources said. The proclamation was issued on the recomendation of the Union Cabinet.

Earlier President's rule had been imposed in the state after the resignation of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa after he had failed to prove his majority in the State Assembly. Both houses of Parliament have also approved imposition of President's rule.
