Huawei to provide scholarships for IITB students

Huawei
Technologies,
which
has
its
larget
overseas
softare
research
and
development
centre
today
announced
scholarships
to
meritorious
students
of
the
Indian
Institute
of
Information
Technology,
Bangalore.
Heawei Technologies India in a release here said focussing on education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation, IIT-B, promoted by the IT industry and the Karnataka Government imparted academic programmes leading to Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Information Technology. The scholarships would be offered to students of IIIT-B graduating with Master of Science in Information Technology, and students completing M.Tech thesis.
Prof Sadagopan, Director of IIIT-B stated commenting on the partnership with Huawei said it was very special to the Institute which started operations in 1999, as did Huawei. ''Huawei has grown enormously in the past nine years. IIIT-B has also developed considerable expertise in Telecom area over the years. We expect to synergise our strengths thorough this partnership'' he added in the release.
Mr George Huang, Chief Operating Officer of Huawei Technologies India said ''With an aim to support IT education in India, and more specifically in the field of higher education and research, Huawei Technologies India has set up the Huawei Excellence Award scholarships'' As a global corporate citizen, contributing to the countries and communities in which it operated had always been one of Huawei"s core values. And providing people with better career opportunities, higher standard of living and education has been very much a part of its commitment to society, the release added.
