Cong workers lathicharged in MP
Indore, Nov 29 (UNI) Police lathicharged and directed a water cannon at Congress workers blocking the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway at this district's Ghatabillaud area who were accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of adopting anti-people policies.
About 150 workers were arrested and later freed on bail. An additional police force was stationed.
''Mild force was exercised after stone-pelting during the blockade,'' said Additional Superintendent of Police Manish Kapuria while former Congress MLA Satyanarayan Patel alleged police excesses on a peaceful agitation and added that even women were not spared.
He demanded action against the officials responsible.
Earlier, former Congress state President Radhakishan Malviya alleged at a meeting that corruption spiralled during BJP tenure.
''There is a crisis over power, water and fertiliser. The law and order situation is constantly deteriorating,'' he added.
