New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) The government today said complaints on unsolicited calls are on the rise despite TRAI guidelines to ensure relief to mobile phone customers from such commercial calls.

Communications Minister Shakeel Ahmad, in a written reply, said these unsolicited calls are being received from sales promoters, banks and telecom companies.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said the consumers who do not wish to receive such calls and register their requests with service providers, shall get relief from the commercial calls.

The TRAI has issued a Regulation on ''The Telecom Unsolicited Commercial Communications Regulations, 2007,'' dated June 5 for putting a mechanism called ''National Do Not Call'' registry for curbing the unwanted telemarketing. It was operational from October 12.
