PMK stir affects traffic movement in Pondy
Puducherry, Nov 28 (UNI) Vehicular traffic to Villupuram from here was affected for over one and a half hours as PMK volunteers resorted to a road blockade stir at Reddiyarpalayam last night.
The agitation, led by three MLAs was to protest againt the alleged misbehaviour by a traffic Sub Inspector of Police on PMK legislator Panneerselvam over the removal of a barricade near the latter's office.
Police and senior officials tried to pacify them but they continued with the stir.
Later, Chief Minister N Rangasamy contacted Panneerselvam over phone following which the agitation was called off.
Meanwhile, the PMK demanded that departmental action be taken against the Sub Inspector.
A memorandum would be submitted to the Chief Minister in this regard today, Mr Panneerselvam said.
