Andaman history on the coffee table soon

Port Blair, Nov 28 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar administration is planning to bring out a coffee table book on the island's history in the next three months, Secretary to Andaman's Lt Governor G C Joshi said here today.

Mr Joshi told UNI that the book will contain all historical facts and evidences towards formation of the islands, tribal life and culture.

It will also mention facts relating to the Japanese and British rule in the island, he said, adding, the book also contains information on natural calamities, like tsunami, hiting the archipelago.

''The book will also act as a guide for the tourists,'' he informed.

Initially, the administration would collect details in the form of letter, orders and rare photographs on the various subjects so that the same could be compiled and given shape of a draft text, Mr Joshi stated.

''We are also seeking help from the inhabitants here to provide us any kind of material or information they have on the island,'' he added.

The local administration have issued a press note for public in this regard.
