Women held for trying to smuggle explosives

Rameswaram (TN), Nov 27 (UNI) Police have arrested two women when they tried to smuggle detonators, gelatine sticks and a bundle of fuse wires to Sri Lanka at Semmamadam here this morning.

Police said Kaveri Ammal (40) and Anandammal (60) were arrested while trying to smuggle 3,300 detonators, 39 gelatine sticks and a bundle of fuse wires.

Police on a tip-off that two women were trying to smuggle explosive materials, rushed to the spot.

But as they reached the place, the women tried to escape leaving the explosive materials behind.

However, the police chased and arrested them and seized the materials.

After interrogating the women, the police later arrested Tenzing, Karunanidhi, S Chandran, R Chandran, Shantakumar and Raju who were involved in the case at various stages.
