War veterans demand 5 per cent job reservation in private companie

New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The All India Congress Committee (AICC) (Ex-servicemen cell) today demanded five per cent job reservation for war veterans in private sector companies and free travel facilities.

A delegation of the AICC (Ex-servicemen cell) met AICC General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi and demanded that the private sector companies, engaged in production of defence equipment, should employ at least five per cent of their retired work force.

They also urged him to give free travel facilities for ex-servicemen, travelling at their own expense, to participate in the annual Battle Honors/Raising Day celebrations and implementation of ''one rank one pension'' for those ex-servicemen retired before January 1, 1996.

The delegation also informed that the 36th Vijay Diwas will be held on December 16 to commemorate the historic victory of the Indian army over Pakistan.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guest, while Rahul Gandhi will preside over the function.
