Vaiko meets Jaya to clear clouds over LTTE remarks

Chennai, Nov 27 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today called on AIADMK General Secretary and alliance party leader J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence this evening.

The meeting assumed significance in the backdrop of Jayalalithaa's critical remarks against those who supported the banned LTTE.

A couple of days after Mr Vaiko courted arrest after attempting to take out a procession to condole the killing of LTTE Political Wing Chief S P Thamilchelvan, Ms Jayalalithaa had said any form of support to the banned outfit should be treated as an act of treason.

This was the first time, Mr Vaiko was meeting Ms Jayalalithaa after the remarks.

Sources said Mr Vaiko explained his position on his support to the LTTE and gave details about his visit to Geneva.
