Tirupati stands second in cell phone usage in AP

Tirupati, Nov 27 (UNI) The temple town of Tirupati has the maximum number of mobile phone users in Andhra Pradesh after Hyderabad, BSNL Tirupati Telecom General Manager S Balachandran said today.

Talking to UNI here, he said in view of the influx of pilgrims to the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, the sale of recharge coupons and Cellone users has increased steeply.

Replying to a question, he said long pending dues in Tirupati telecom region was to the tune of Rs 12 crore. But it was less compared to Telengana and other coastal areas in the state.

He said 8,000 new connections would be given by next March and more broad band connections as well, by December end this year in Chittoor district.

To increase the coverage in the district, BSNL will instal 34 new towers, he said.
