''Fighter pilots have confirmed that the radio station was completely destroyed. The targeted radio station was to air the annual birthday speech of terror chief V Prabhakaran this evening,'' the Defence Ministry said.
It said that ''the targeted location has been identified as the place where LTTE produces its propaganda products aimed at luring Tamil youth to join the terror outfit and also at tarnishing the good image of Sri Lanka.'' The LTTE peace secretariat in a statement said, ''the Voice of Tiger's buildings on A9 Road, 3.5 kms from Kilinochchi town, was bombed by Sri Lanka Air Force at 1630 hrs IST today.'' ''Many civilian employees present at the Voice of Tigers office were killed in the bombing. The Voice of Tigers buildings were flattened,'' the rebels said.
The rebels also said two Kfir bombers dropped 12 bombs on the buildings, alleging that ''civilians traveling on the road were also killed.''
