Puducherry, Nov 27: The Puducherry administration will provide pilot training to five Dalit girls in the Union Territory next year, social Welfare Minister M Kandasamy said.

Inaugrating an awareness camp on women's development schemes, their rights and Protection Act, jointly organised by the National Women's Commission, Puducherry Women's Commission and Women and Child Development Corporation at Kirumambakkam near here yesterday, he said the funds required to give flying training to the girls would be given from the Special Component Plan (SCP) funds, meant for the development of Dalits.

Stating that the administration was committed to provide assistance under various schemes within 24 hours of submitting the application, Mr Kandasamy said earlier marriage assistance for girls could be obtained only after a child was born but the situation had changed and the benefits could be availed immediately if the application and documents were in proper order.
