On-duty cops beaten up

Hardoi, Nov 27 (UNI) Two on-duty police constables were assaulted by some influencial persons at village Surjipur here today.

Constables Ram Asrey Verma and Sarvesh Yadav had gone to serve a notice at Nanhelal's residence, where they were beaten black and blue by the house owner and kin.

The villagers, who gathered during the clash, also attacked the cops with batons.

They somehow reached the nearby hospital with severe head injuries, the police said adding that a case had been registered.
