Morphine worth Rs 44 lakh seized, 2 held

Bahraich, Nov 27 (UNI) Police here today arrested two drug smugglers possessing morphine estimated at Rs 44 lakh in the international market.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of some notorious criminals on Nanpara Bypass, cops laid a trap and nabbed two motorcycle-borne Roop Singh and Swadesh Kumar.

On being frisked, 440 gm morphine was recovered from their possession.

On interrogation, the accused confessed the crime, saying they were transporting the consignment from Lucknow to Bahraich.
