Hyderabad, Nov 27 (UNI) The District Court today convicted the main accused in Chanda Nagar bomb blast case and sentenced him to seven-years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000.
The Ranga Reddy District Court judge convicted Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Srinu, the main accused in the blast case, after hearing the final arguments of Counsels of the accused and the prosecution.
He was produced in the court amid tight security as he was also the main accused in the murder case of TDP MLA P Ravindra. The CBI is probing the murder.
Moddu Srinu was arrested on the spot in connection with the bomb blast that occurred at a lodge under Chanda Nagar police station limits in November 2005. One person was injured in the blast.
Six other persons were also arrested. The court is yet to pronounce the judgement.
Talking to newspersons here, Moddu Srinu denied his involvement in the murder of the TDP, MLA, who was killed in Anantapur in January 2005. ''I am an innocent person and I had no role in the murder of the TDP leader'', he added.
