Nepalese lawmakers draw govt attention to Indian Highway near border
Kathmandu, Nov 26 (UNI) The Nepalese Parliamentary Committee sought the government's reaction to India's plan to construct a highway near the Indo-Nepal border.
The lawmakers inquired whether the government had knowledge of the highway being constructed near the border, during a meeting of the interim Parliamentary Natural Resources and Means Committee yesterday.
They suggested the government take necessary initiative and hold parleys with the Indian authorities.
They said a dialogue regarding the highway, which could submerge Nepali lands, is needed at the earliest.
Kantipuronline quoted sources as saying that efforts were underway to give directives to the government to hold dialogues with India in the next meeting of the committee after necessary homework and detailed study of the issue.
